Here is what we learned:
- Survey the exterior walls of the home to find out what they are made of, wood framing, poured concrete or cinder block.
- Find out the age of the home in order to gauge expectations.
- Using information regarding the exterior construction, determine the most likely materials to be within the inside of the of outer walls.
- Secure or temporarily remove items attached to the wall or on shelves that are fragile and could come loose from vibrations.
- Be aware of any electrical appliances that could present a safety risk when drilling.
- Assess the condition of the interior walls and tiles. This could effect the strength of the grab bars and can be used to prevent wall damage.
- Determine what materials the tiles are made of. This could effect how to most effectively drill into the walls.
